Summary

Avinol PM is a poor sleep aid. We would not recommend this supplement to anybody. We strongly recommend reading our full Avinol PM review before you go ahead and use this sleep stack. It has a tiny proprietary blend. The only ingredients with a stated dose are theanine and magnesium. Both are good sleep enhancers, but they’re nothing special, and you can get both from food. If you really want to enhance your sleep, we recommend using a high quality sleep aid. You can do better than Avinol PM.

Avinol PM Review: What does this sleep aid do?

Avinol PM is an extremely popular sleep aid right now. It has been on the market for a little while now, but it has remained one of the most widely-used and sought after sleep supplements around. It claims to be an extra strength, all-natural sleep enhancer. But we’ve heard this before. So what does it claim to do exactly?

Avinol PM review

According to the bottle, Avinol PM helps you “fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up feeling refreshed”.

The bottle also claims the following key selling points:

  1. Rapid results
  2. Non-addictive
  3. Stabilize your body’s sleep cycle
  4. No side effects
  5. Promotes deep sleep

This sounds like a great sleep aid.

If all of this is true, then Avinol PM looks set to be a fantastic product, well deserving of its popularity.

But does Avinol PM really work? Is it really an “extra-strength” sleep enhancer? Is Avinol PM safe? What about long-term risks? We’ll answer all of these questions in our detailed Avinol PM review below!

Avinol PM Ingredients

Here is the Avinol PM ingredients list as it appears on the bottle:

Avinol PM ingredients

Here is a list of the ingredients in Avinol PM in case that isn’t clear:

  • Calcium
  • Magnesium
  • Hops flower powder
  • Valerian root extract
  • GABA
  • Chamomile flower powder
  • Passion flower powder
  • Lemon balm concentrate
  • 5-HTP
  • Melatonin

Below is a brief overview of the Avinol PM ingredients, what they do, and how they enhance sleep (if they enhance sleep that is). We’ll explain what kind of scientific backing each ingredient has, and what we make of the dose. Post your questions in the comments at the end.

Magnesium – 200mg

Magnesium is a great natural sleep aid. It works by reducing nerve activity; magnesium reduces the amount of signals which get passed between your neurons, effectively quieting the mind. It also prevents night time spasms, reduces blood pressure, and reduces your heart rate. Supplementing with 200mg of magnesium before bed is a great way to soothe the body into a deep, unbroken sleep.

Hops – UNKNOWN DOSE

Hops are a natural sedative. They promote the release of GABA in the human CNS. GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter – basically, it reduces activity in the CNS, making you feel more relaxed, less tense, and less anxious too. Hops are not particularly powerful; they don’t work like synthetic or pharmaceutical sedatives. However, consuming some hops before bed might be a great way to induce sleep if you find yourself tossing and turning into the night.

Valerian Root – UNKNOWN DOSE

Valerian Root is used in a lot of premium sleep supplements today. Manufacturers claim that it does everything from promote deep sleep to help reduce anxiety at night. Unfortunately, we’ve never seen any proof for these claims. We are yet to find a single convincing clinical trial showing big improvements in sleep quality from valerian root supplementation alone. Clearly the makers of Avinol PM don’t care about scientific proof!

GABA – DOSE UNKNOWN

As explained above, GABA is the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in humans. Increasing GABA levels in the brain would help you sleep better at night. However, supplementing with GABA does not reliably increase GABA levels in the brain. GABA is not well absorbed in the human gut. It does not cross the blood-brain barrier (the brain wants to keep all the GABA in the brain where it is). A wasted ingredient in Avinol PM.

Chamomile – DOSE UNKNOWN

Chamomile is a great caffeine-free tea to drink before bed. It is delicious, relaxing, and it wont potentially keep you awake like green or black tea might. However, supplementing with chamomile plant parts has never been shown to reliable or significantly improve sleep quality in humans. We advise just drinking chamomile and spending your money on more robustly proven sleep aids. Yet another mark against Avinol PM.

Passion Flower – DOSE UNKNOWN

Avinol PM just can’t get enough of the bogus ingredients. Passion Flower is another common ingredient in sleep aids today. But like Valerian Root, there doesn’t seem to be any serious scientific support for its use as a sleep enhancer. There isn’t a single clinical trial in which people got a better night’s sleep from passion flower consumption alone. This is a complete dud in our opinion.

Lemon Balm – DOSE UNKNOWN

Lemon Balm has been used as a sleep enhancer for centuries. Unlike many other “traditional remedies”, lemon balm actually seems to be a pretty powerful sleep aid. It appears to be particularly useful for people suffering with anxiety-related sleep disorders – if you often find yourself lying awake at night worrying about the future, then lemon balm might be just what you need. However, it does have an active minimum dose of about 100mg. Avinol PM’s proprietary blend is 100mg IN TOTAL.

Lemon Balm leaves

5-HTP – DOSE UNKNOWN

5-HTP is a precursor to and intermediary of serotonin; one of your main “feel-good” hormones. Serotonin makes you feel calm, relaxed, and content. It is also involved in the regulation of your sleep cycle. Your body takes Tryptophan, turns it into 5-HTP, and then turns that into serotonin. While it is easy to assume that 5-HTP gets you to more serotonin ‘faster’, we actually believe that it is better to consume Trytophan. 5-HTP is poorly absorbed in the gut, and when it is, your enteric nervous system uses much of it.

Melatonin – DOSE UNKNOWN

Melatonin is the hormone responsible for controlling when you are awake and when you are asleep. Melatonin is released when it’s time for you to feel sleepy, it spikes when you need to be entering deep sleep, and it subsides when it’s time to get up. Supplementing with melatonin enhances sleep in every way you can imagine – it corrects skewed schedules, promotes deep sleep, reduces sleep latency, and more. You need about 2mg to feel the full effects, and 5mg for curing jet lag.

Theanine – 200mg

Theanine is a phenomenal natural sleep aid when used correctly. It is found in high concentrations in black tea, but the total amounts are very low – just a dozen milligrams or so per cup. Supplementing with large quantities of theanine has been found to significantly reduce sleep latency, reduce muscle soreness, and promote unbroken sleep. Avinol PM thankfully gives us a dose to work with here, and it’s plenty!

Our Thoughts On The Avinol PM Formula

Avinol PM is a very low quality sleep aid – there’s just no other way to put it.

The Avinol PM formula is terrible.

It isn’t Avinol PM’s ingredients that are the problem exactly – it’s more the fact that so many ingredients have been thrown together into a proprietary blend.

Much worse, the Avinol PM proprietary blend is just 100mg in size!

That is absurd for such a busy blend.

The best ingredients in Avinol PM all have minimum dosing requirements.

You need to be consuming about 100mg of Lemon Balm – as a minimum – to really get any effects from it. We would actually advise anyone who is struggling with sleep due to anxiety to use about 150mg per evening.

The same goes for the hops. If you’re suffering from muscle pain or joint soreness and it’s keeping you awake at night, then hops can help. But you need to be consuming more than 100mg per night. Otherwise, you just aren’t going to notice any major improvements in sleeping patterns.

It would be impossible for the best ingredients in Avinol PM to be dosed right even if they were the only ingredients. But they’re not – there’s a load of useless ingredients in here too!

We have to wonder why the likes of passionflower and valerian root have been included. It’s not because they are proven, effective sleep enhancers. SO could it be to bulk out the formula with cheap, readily available ingredients?

This is a possibility you need to consider.

Despite some good ingredients, we cannot recommend Avinol PM to anybody. It contains far too much useless dead weight, and it is categorically impossible for the best ingredients to be dosed how they need to be.

Much better sleep aids are available – no doubt about that!

Avinol PM Side Effects – Will it cause side effects?

One thing that we’re not worried about with Avinol PM is side effects. The proprietary blend is just 100mg in size, and it contains 8 ingredients. It is therefore highly unlikely that any ingredient is going to be dosed high enough to cause you problems!

The only concern would be if the melatonin were dosed far too high.

You only need to be consuming about 2-5mg of melatonin before bed. A dose of 5mg before sleep is enough to put you into a nice, seep sleep for 8 solid hours. We wouldn’t recommend using more than 5mg per night to anybody – 5mg per night for 7 days is enough to cure the worst jet lag in our opinion.

But it is feasible that Avinol PM contains as much as 90mg of Melatonin.

Avinol PM side effects

That much melatonin would probably cause serious side effects. It is, after all, a hormone. Having too much melatonin may interact negatively with your other hormone cycles.

It is of course unlikely that it contains that much melatonin. But the fact Avinol PM doesn’t show its individual ingredient servings on the bottle means we have to consider it.

Our advice would simply be to opt for a supplement which tells you exactly how much melatonin you get per serving. There are plenty of those available!

Please remember that we are not doctors, and that this is not medical advice. You must do your own research carefully and consult with a medical professional before using any sleep aids. If you have chronic insomnia, the you need proper medical attention.

In conclusion – Is Avinol PM a good sleep aid?

We have no idea how this sleep aid has gotten so popular. It receives thousands of Google searches every single month, yet it offers absolutely nothing in the way of results or value for money.

Avinol PM is a total waste of money in our opinion.

Not only does it use a proprietary blend, but the proprietary blend is just 100mg in size.

There is no way that the main ingredients can possibly be dosed how they need to be with a 100mg blend.

In fact, the only effective ingredients in Avinol PM’s blend aside from the melatonin – the lemon balm and the hops – both need to be dosed above 100mg for you to get anything out of them.

The fact that the blend also contains several useless, unproven, ineffective ingredients just puts the nail in the coffin for us.

Avinol PM is an over-priced, under-powered supplement. If you want a stack to help you sleep better at night, then use a more professional supplement offering total formula transparency. You don’t have to put up with prop blends or bogus ingredients anymore!

The reason that I was interested in Avinol PM is that I saw it online being advertised by Shark Tank! That’s how it became so popular! I ordered before checking it out & immediately canceled my FREE SAMPLE, Well the next day it and another charge appeared on my Bank of America Visa card., which immediately contacted me about the charge. Yesterday I received the sample! I’m keeping it! Throw it away. Thank you for your honest review……

Please read this!!! It is a rip-off and the first thing you know, the company is deducting $79.00 from my bank account. If I had not paid by paypal ($5.95 shipping charge) but with a credit card, I could have disputed it. They have ripped me off and the product doesn’t even work.

Hi Edwin. We’re very sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with Avinol PM. Can we ask where you bought it from? Was it from the Avinol PM manufacturer directly? Have you managed to get a refund for your unwanted refill? We recommend contacting your bank to make sure Avinol don’t charge you again!

To whom it concerns I only ordered what was supposed to be free. I did not like Avinol PM so please stop taking out of my account. Cannot afford that when it doesn’t work. So please put the money back on my card. Or I will have to start legal action.
    Thank you.

Hi Jane. We have absolutely nothing to do with Avinol PM, so it’s no good posting complaints here. If Avinol PM is taking money from your account, then the best thing to do is contact your bank and put a stop to it. Never trust scammy websites!

This product and company, Avinol, is a scam and rip off. Do not deal with them as there is no recourse for returning initial shipment that one did not order in the first place. There was no contact information in the first shipment I received so I placed a complaint with the Business Consumer Alliance that day. Avinol PM is ineffective, costly and is an example of consumer fraud. Accept no “free samples” as they are NOT.

I got scammed too. Ordered under the internet title of Shark Tank Project and there was no mention of follow on charges and nothing sent, but I still got charged a full monthly billing only 18 days after I paid just shipping for a supposed free sample.

I too have been robbed with this Avinol ineffective sleep aid. So I called and they said when I return the sample they will refund my $79.95. Totally fake-no help at all. Very irritating to my stomach I found.

I am now using my third box of Avinol PM and it works for me and I feel so good about learning about this sleep aid. 30 minutes before bedtime I take two of the tablets with water.
