Genius Consciousness
Summary
Genius Consciousness is not a bad nootropic. This brain supplement provides good doses of some key cognitive enhancers. Users will experience heightened focus and significantly better memory function. However, there is a fair bit of dead weight in the Genius Consciousness formula. Several ingredients do nothing. You will see results, but there are better nootropics.
Genius Consciousness Review: What is it supposed to do?
The Genius Brand is one of the fastest-growing supplement brands in the world right now. Their range of general health and wellness products made a huge splash when it was launched a couple of years ago. They’ve since expanded into sports-specific supplement. But the product they’re still best-known for is still their nootropic – Genius Consciousness.
Genius Consciousness is designed to deliver the following key benefits:
- Greater working memory
- Enhanced focus
- More efficient learning
- Faster thinking
- Promotes neurogeneration (brain growth)
- Protects the brain from oxidative damage
- Boosts creativity
That is one long list of benefits! It seems that Genius Consciousness is designed to cover every major aspect of cognitive function. If it actually does all of these things, then it will definitely be one of the best nootropics in the world.
So does Genius Consciousness actually work? Does Genius Consciousness cause side effects? How does it compare to the other leading brain supplements on sale today? Find out by reading our full review below!
Genius Consciousness Ingredients
Here is the Genius Consciousness formula as it is displayed on the label:
We’ll now give you a brief overview of the main ingredients, what they do, and how they contribute to cognitive function. We’ll also talk about the scientific proof backing up Genius Consciousness’ ingredients (if there is any). If you have any questions, post them in the comments at the end!
Lion’s Mane Mushroom – 500mg
Supplementing with Lion’s Mane Mushroom has been shown to increase Nerve Growth Factor expression in the brain. This promotes neuron growth, repair, and proliferation. More brain ‘hardware’ means better mental performance over the long-term.
Alpha-GPC – 300mg
Alpha-GPC is an incredibly powerful short-term focus-booster. It quickly raises choline levels in the brain, which then leads to higher acetylcholine levels. Acetylcholine is the brain’s primary executive neurotransmitter. Increasing acetylcholine levels is the most reliable way to improve learning, processing speed, working memory, and focus.
Tyrosine – 250mg
Tyrosine supplementation has been shown to improve mental performance in people placed in stressful or distracting situations. Clinical trials have thus far found Tyrosine to be effective at improving cognitive function in people subjected to extreme cold, loud noise, sleep deprivation, and more. A great nootropic and anxiolytic.
Caffeine – 50mg
This one doesn’t need much of an explanation – caffeine is an immensely powerful natural stimulant. It decreases the perception of fatigue, increases mental energy levels, heightens focus, and boosts motivation (it acts on dopamine). If you need a swift increase in focus and drive, caffeine is a good solution.
Phosphatidylserine – 50mg
Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid found in very high concentrations in the brain. It is a primary structural component of brain cell membranes. You need it to build new brain cells. It is also involved in cell signalling – it is phosphatidylserine which tells your body to destroy brain cells that have reached the end of their lives!
Huperzine A – 5mg (1% Hup A)
This plant extract shuts off the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. This is the enzyme which usually gets rid of excess acetylcholine. Supplementing with Huperzine A causes a steady build-up of acetylcholine in the brain, which means faster thinking, greater focus, and better memory function.
Our Thoughts On The Genius Consciousness Formula
We have seriously split opinions on Genius Consciousness.
On the whole, we think it is a solid nootropic supplement, but a flawed one.
There are definitely some strong selling points here. We think most people using this nootropic will see big improvements in cognitive function in a short space of time.
But there are still much better nootropics on the market right now. It is good, but far from the best.
Genius Consciousness – The Good
The ingredients listed above are genuinely great nootropics.
They all have sound scientific backing – there are numerous clinical trials showing that all of those ingredients promote better cognitive function.
What’s great is that they all have different mechanisms of action.
Alpha-GPC rapidly increases acetylcholine synthesis while Huperzine A stops that new acetylcholine from being destroyed. The caffeine ramps up mental energy and motivation which Tyrosine keeps you calm and clear-headed. Finally, the Phosphatidylserine and Lion’s Mane Mushroom are quietly promoting long-term brain development in the background.
However, we’re not completely convinced by this formula.
Genius Consciousness – The Bad
There are several big problems with Genius Consciousness.
There’s a lot of dead weight in Genius Consciousness. Several of the ingredients in Genius Consciousness do absolutely nothing for cognitive function. Things like Coffee Bean Extract and Ginseng aren’t going to make a big difference to your day-to-day mental performance. There’s little evidence to suggest that these substances work as well as the manufacturer would have us believe.
Methylberine is another coffee extract that has no real scientific backing. To our knowledge, no independent clinical trials have shown this stuff to increase focus or energy, as some people claim it does.
ALCAR has no meaningful nootropic properties. Even at a high dose like we get from Genius Consciousness, we doubt ALCAR is really going to make a big difference to your mental energy levels. It is primarily used for increasing power output in athletes – we see no reason to believe it is a nootropic as well.
There’s also some big gaps in the Genius Consciousness formula. There’s no Bacopa monnieri for better memory function. No B Vitamins for greater energy. No Rhodiola rosea for reduced stress and anxiety.
These are big problems for a premium nootropic supplement.
Is Genius Consciousness a good nootropic? Yes, definitely.
Would we recommend Genius Consciousness to our readers? No, unfortunately we would not.
Side Effects: Is Genius Consciousness safe?
This looks like a very safe natural nootropic stack if used correctly.
The ingredients used in Genius Consciousness are 100% natural, plant-derived compounds produced in high quality, regulated facilities.
These substances are used by millions of people every day – they’re in hundreds of popular supplements. We don’t believe any of them are known to pose serious side effect risks.
However, you do need to be careful.
For one thing, each daily serving of Genius Consciousness contains 100mg of caffeine. That’s not a huge dose, but it is still slightly more caffeine than you get from an espresso. Take this into account before you start using it!
Genius Consciousness also contains Huperzine A. You need to cycle Huperzine A on a regular basis to avoid side effects -your brain needs time to ‘re-set’ its acetylcholine levels to within a healthy range. We recommend taking a week off every 3 weeks as a minimum.
In Conclusion – Does Genius Consciousness Work?
If you’ve read our full Genius Consciousness review, you’ll know that we are very torn over this brain supplement.
On the one hand, it contains some superb ingredients at very good doses. The combination of 300mg of Alpha-GPC, 250mg of Tyrosine, and 50mg of Caffeine will work wonders for keeping you focused, clear-headed, and in the zone for hours on end. The Lion’s Mane Mushroom and Phosphatidylserine will then promote long-term changes in the brain, which is the best way to enhance cognition over the long-haul.
But the Genius Consciousness formula is riddled with problems.
Several of the ingredients don’t really do anything for cognition – Ginseng, ALCAR, Methylberine; none of these ingredients have been shown to promote mental performance in independent clinical trials.
Even NeuroFactor – so hyped up by the bio-hacking blogs – lacks conclusive scientific evidence. Until we see an independent, long-term trial, we’re going to remain pretty sceptical about coffee extracts and their effect on brain development.
Will you see improvements in mental function using Genius Consciousness? Yes, absolutely. We don’t doubt that for a second.
Is Genius Consciousness the best option for enhancing cognitive performance? No. In our opinion, there are far better nootropics on sale right now – more complete, focused, less wasteful stacks.
